Hello! My name is Beth Ann Weber and I am the owner and operater of Appalachian Heritage Soaps & Sundries. I am a self-taught soapmaker of more than seven years. All of my product recipes are original. They come from research, trial and error, and oral tradition. Always interested in heritage arts, I tried soapmaking during a low time in my life and found a unique way to combine several of my interests: Appalachian culture, family history, and artistic expression.
On a personal note, I have been married for over 20 years and have 5 children. We live in Washington County, Ohio, one of Ohio's Appalachian counties. Our region is in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains with beautiful rolling hills. I was born and raised here, lived many other places, and now appreciate my native area more than anywhere else on earth.
Many people ask me what are my favorite products: All of them, of course! But here are some very special ones: for face soap - Grandma Lizzie's Rose Trellis; for shower - Grandpa Jones Orange Clove; the one I'm proudest of - Grandpa Hill's Poison Ivy; the one I won't be without - Black Drawing Salve. And what is my dream? I have many, but one of them is a learning sabbatical at Berea College in Kentucky to do Appalachian studies.
